Munsell Street Project

The Greater Opportunities for Broome and Chenango, Inc. Munsell Street Project affordable housing program is located at 29-31 Munsell and 32-34 Munsell Street in Binghamton, New York.

There are a total of six units per building (6-one-bedroom units and 6 two-bedroom units), with three (3) one-bedroom units and three (3) two-bedroom units being mobility accessible units. Four of the units have Project Based Vouchers through the NYS HCR Housing Choice Voucher Program.

Eligible applicants must have a total household income that falls at or below 80% AMI.  Applications will be received on a “first-come, first-served” basis. Tenant incomes will be certified at initial occupancy and annually thereafter.  Rents will be set at the established HOME program High and Low rent limits.

Greater Opportunities follows a family development services system, a way of working with families and empowering them to move out of poverty. The goal is to support families in their efforts to move from crisis situations, economic dependency, and vulnerability to an increasingly stable and economically self-supporting situation. Families are full partners in identifying their strengths, needs and with staff guidance, put together steps to attain self-sufficiency.
